Our Concrete Coating Services

Whatever surface you want to epoxy, we can help, whether that is your garage floor, basement floor, or another concrete surface. At Premier Painting, LLC, we use polyaspartic, urethane, and epoxy garage floor coatings, which are high-solid, two-component, heavy-duty coatings formulated for the right requirements.

These products dry to a strong, high-gloss finish with excellent resistance to chemicals, abrasion, and corrosion. The decorative flake coatings are easy to clean and do an excellent job providing a quality surface that will last for years.

Proper Surface Preparation for Your Floor Coating

  • The entire floor surface must be clean and contaminant-free. Cracks and other surface imperfections need to be repaired using high-solid fillers, and the entire surface must be grinded to ensure a proper bond using diamond blades.
  • Your concrete’s moisture level, surface temperature, and the garage’s air and humidity levels must be taken into account when applying your product. Applying a moisture mitigation coat helps tremendously before applying your polyaspartic or Ployurea base coat. This ensures added protection from moisture pushing through your coatings and causing premature failure.

Process For Applying Your Concrete Coatings

    • Diamond Grinding

We grind the concrete using diamond blades to scarify the surface, which aids in developing a rough surface. When the epoxy or polyaspartic coating is applied, the rough surface creates “teeth” that ensure the coating will adhere properly. This process will also eliminate any previous coatings or paint, which can prevent the epoxy from sticking. The concrete grinding process removes blemishes like bumps, dips, cracks, scrapes, chips, warps, or crumbling spots – which will worsen over time and ruin your floor if you neglect these imperfections before installing an epoxy coating.

    • Cracks and Surface Imperfections

Cracks and other surface imperfections will be repaired. Any cracks that are opened up and repaired with our high-solid epoxy filler will be grinded again prior to any cleaning or product application.

    • Vacuuming and Cleaning

All surface areas will be thoroughly cleaned, and all of the dust will be removed prior to any product application to ensure an optimal bond for our base coat.

    • Attention to Temperatures

Your concrete’s moisture level and surface temperature and the garage’s air temperature and humidity level must be taken into account when applying your product. Applying a moisture mitigation coat helps tremendously before applying your epoxy or polyaspartic base coat.

    • Application of High-End Epoxy Base-Coat

Higher-end 100% solid epoxy’s slower curing time allows for a deeper penetration into the concrete, significantly reducing the chances of peeling or delamination. Epoxy aids in maximum penetration into the pores of the concrete, creating a superior bond. Epoxy is also superior to other products when it comes to moisture mitigation – especially when dealing with slabs that have excessive moisture.

    • Flake Variations

We tend to use a flake variation known as “Full Rejection,” where we cover 100% of the floor into the base coat with our flake of choice. This application looks amazing once the top coat is applied. Once the product has dried, we scrape the excess flake off the floor and fully clean the surface area before applying our top coat.

    • Polyaspartic and Polyurea Top Coat

Polyurea and polyaspartic coatings have received massive attention for their quick curing times and exceptional protective properties. These products are best suited as topcoats over an epoxy base. They offer enhanced protection against UV light, chemicals, and abrasion. These coatings resist yellowing and degradation from UV exposure, maintaining the floor’s pristine appearance. These coatings are also very scratch and impact resistant. Polyaspartic coatings cure to a very hard finish, offering excellent resistance.

Considerations for Your Epoxy Garage Flooring Project

    • While floor coatings can be applied as a DIY project, for larger or more complex applications, it’s often advisable to hire a professional installer to ensure proper surface preparation and application. Using the proper equipment and application systems ensure a long-lasting floor coating that is there for life.
    • Polyaspartic coatings are designed to exhibit rapid curing capabilities, which can dry in a matter of hours or less. These concrete floor coating systems provide for a next-day return to service. Having a fast cure time is one of the primary benefits of traditional epoxy coating technology. Other benefits include amazing durability and general resistance to fading or yellowing from sun exposure like traditional epoxy coatings.
    • Epoxy is significantly quicker to clean than a concrete floor. It also adds equity to your home, makes cars stand out in the garage, and much more.
