Full Siding Replacement & Exterior Renovation in Oregon City, OR:
Restoring Integrity with Lasting Beauty
This recent exterior siding replacement and re-paint project in Oregon City was a true full-scope transformation. For this repeat client, we replaced failing siding, installed new windows and doors, corrected hidden damage, and finished everything with Sherwin-Williams Duration exterior paint for long-term protection and curb appeal.
Failing Siding: The Case for Full Replacement
The original HardiePlank siding on the back three sides of the home was in poor condition. After years of exposure, the material had begun to crack, delaminate, and warp, compromising both appearance and weather protection!
Our inspection revealed widespread failure, leading the homeowners to choose a full siding replacement on a majority of the home. Once we began removal, we uncovered additional issues:
- Extensive dry rot in the lower section of sheathing on the south side of the home
- Signs of moisture penetration around the windows sills
Full Demo & Rebuild Where Needed
Our siding replacement process began with a careful, full demo of:
- All siding and trim on the affected elevations
- Lower sheathing on the south side due to dry rot
- Three windows and two rear doors (including a single fiberglass door and a sliding patio door)
House wrap details:
- Typar House Wrap applied across the exposed sheathing
- Ice and Water Shield installed along the base of the walls
- All window rough openings were sealed at the sill and halfway up the verticals before installation
- Typar adhesive tape applied to window flanges, then fully integrated into the house wrap and sealed with tape for a continuous weather barrier
New Materials Installed
With the home properly prep and ready for install, we installed:
- Three new Pella windows
- One new fiberglass entry door
- One new Pella sliding patio door
- New HardiePlank lap siding and HardieTrim, all properly gapped and fastened using best practices
- Aluminum window flashing on all trim using factory pre-coated materials for a clean look and leak protection
Exterior Paint Prep and Finish: Sherwin-Williams Duration
Once the siding and trim were installed, we moved into the final phase—painting.
Our process included:
- Power Washing the entire exterior to remove dust, mildew, and chalking
- Scraping & Sanding any failing paint areas to ensure smooth transitions
- Spot Priming all bare wood and previously damaged sections
- Re-Caulking around windows, trim joints, and seams using premium caulking for a weatherproof seal
- We applied Sherwin-Williams Duration Exterior Paint, chosen for its exceptional color retention, weather resistance, and flexibility.
- The entire exterior was sprayed with two full coats, and detailed trim areas were brushed and rolled to deliver a clean, sharp finish.
- The new color scheme perfectly complements the upgraded materials and gives the home a fresh, timeless appeal.
