Exterior Repaint in Oregon City, OR:
From Forest Green to a Bold Blue
At the top of a long, private driveway in Oregon City, Oregon, this home presented both logistical and technical challenges—but also the opportunity for a bold transformation. The original forest green exterior blended too closely with the surrounding trees, and the homeowners were ready for a fresh, eye-catching look. With a combination of Sherwin-Williams Duration paint, skilled prep, and detailed trim work, this house is now a vibrant blue standout in its hillside setting.
Accessing the Heights: Preparation on Steep Terrain
Just getting to the job site required careful planning. The home sits well above street level, accessible only by a winding gravel driveway, and features multiple high-elevation walls. This made ladder safety and staging logistics a top priority.
- Our crew worked with tall ladders and safety equipment to access every elevation without compromise.
- Exposure to wind and sun required us to work strategically, ensuring optimal paint conditions throughout the day.
Our process included:
- Scraping & Sanding: Any peeling or compromised paint was carefully removed.
- Caulking: Old caulk was cut out and replaced with high-performance caulking to seal joints, seams, and trim transitions properly.
- Cover-Stain Oil-Based Primer to all bare wood.
Premium Paint and Full Coverage: Duration Exterior by Sherwin-Williams
For this full exterior repaint, we selected Sherwin-Williams Duration Exterior Paint for its durability and visual aesthetics.
Body Application: The siding was painted using airless paint sprayer for smooth, even coverage and maximum product efficiency.
- We applied two full coats for long-term protection and rich color depth that holds up to Oregon’s moisture and UV exposure.
The new bold blue body color transformed the home’s exterior from muted and weathered to confident and modern.
Crisp Trim Work for Contrast and Clean Lines
With such a bold body color, precision trim work was essential:
- All fascia, soffits, window and door trim were painted using a brush and roll technique to ensure sharp, defined lines and a professional finish.
- The bright white trim now stands in bold contrast against the blue, emphasizing the architectural details and giving the entire home a polished, elevated appearance.
Solid Staining the Front and Back T&G Porches
To complete the exterior upgrade, we refinished the tongue-and-groove porch ceilings surfaces using Storm solid stain system:
- The front porch and rear deck T&G panels were cleaned and carefully stained, working the product into the grooves for full penetration and a consistent finish.
- The solid stain not only enhances the wood’s appearance but also adds UV protection and moisture resistance—important for Oregon’s seasonal shifts.
A Showstopper in the Oregon City Hills
This was more than just a repaint—it was a full transformation. From a faded forest green to a striking blue with white trim, this home now stands out confidently in the neighborhood. The combination of Sherwin-Williams Duration paint, expert prep work, and detailed craftsmanship delivered a finished product that’s durable and rewarding.
