Interior Prep and Paint Process
• Job Site Preparation
Prior to any painting, priming, or surface prep, the home or workspace will be masked off accordingly to ensure sufficient protection of all areas.
• Furniture, Fixtures, and Surface Protection
• Taping and Masking Edges
• Repair and Patching
Addressing imperfections is key to achieving a proper surface for paint application. Our skilled team will meticulously patch and repair any cracks, holes, or blemishes to ensure a proper surface for primer or paint application.
• Surface Cleaning
A clean canvas is essential for the perfect paint job. We achieve this by sanding and filling any holes. Along with thoroughly cleaning the surfaces to remove any dust, dirt and debris prior to priming or painting.
• Priming for Adhesion
We apply high-quality oil or water based primers to create a smooth uniformed base that blocks staining while enhancing the durability and longevity of the paint job.
• Caulking
To achieve clean lines and prevent open seams, we use premium caulks to seal gaps around trim, baseboards, and other painted surfaces. Using quality oil or water-based caulking ensures durability during expansion and contraction, and it lasts much longer than cheaper off-brand products.
• Ventilation and Environment Control
We take measures to ensure optimal ventilation during the painting process. Proper airflow expedites drying times and contributes to a cleaner indoor environment. We also control environmental factors, such as humidity, to achieve optimal paint performance. We use both air movers and air scrubbers to circulate air throughout the process, which in return, maintains quality control in each project.
• Paint Application
• Trim Painting
Two coats of either an enamel trim paint or hybrid Enamel Urethane trim paint are applied using a spray application to ensure a smooth and consistent finish. Depending on the job site expectations and conditions, when having to brush or roll trim, we use lighter trim paints with better self-leveling properties to still maintain a good finish after completion.
• Ceiling Painting
During full interior paint projects, we almost always paint ceilings using a spay application. If we are doing smaller projects or just ceiling paint jobs, we will brush and roll these surfaces. Ceilings are always painted first during the painting process, and the application will be determined by each job and what suits the client and process best.
• Wall Painting
In most cases, we brush and roll your wall surfaces. If the home or building is being painted one sheen and one color, we will most likely spray the walls and ceilings at the same time and back-roll during the process. We use fine roller naps on smooth wall surfaces to ensure an even texture application. We tend to use standard-sized roller naps on orange peel textured walls for proper coverage and efficiency.
Things to Consider for Your Paint Project
What You Should Know
- Don’t forget that your furniture, lighting, and trim application have a huge impact on how a new color will look in your home. Never say no to your favorite colors, but always say yes to what compliments your home the best!
- Most painting projects can be invasive due to the amount of masking and preparation for each surface. We always suggest our clients be prepared to adjust to site conditions, but we do our very best to make the process as comfortable as possible.
- We have completed a wide variety of color combinations and designs that were requested by our clients. We aim to think outside of the box, and we look forward to coming up with new ideas to add a little more flavor to your paint project!

Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I pay for interior painting?
Full interior paint jobs, which include walls, ceilings, and trim, can range from $10-12 per square foot. These numbers are more of a general reference, so it is important to determine the quality of finish, products, and site conditions.
If your project has a lot more trim detail or bare wood finishes that are getting primed and painted, this can increase labor and project cost vs. simple layouts with already painted surfaces.
The best answers to your questions always come together better with an onsite consultation. We are always happy to answer questions and give the best advice we can for your project!
How long will my paint job take?
Each project also has its own set of challenges that some similar projects may not have such as an empty home vs a fully furnished home that is lived in. We have to take similar precautions but there are extra steps to ensuring a comfortable process for our customers.
How do I find an interior painter?
Connecting with community pages and asking close friends and family about any experiences they may have had with a specific painting company is also a good choice.
How do I know if a painter is good?
Everything from consistent communication and followups to timely and detailed estimates that include their process, products, and guarantees are all key components when deciding who you should hire. Also, trusting your gut is important, as not all painters have the same quality control and vision. Some are very detail-oriented while others are faster-paced painters.
How do I fix paint peeling from interior walls?
It’s important you remove and sand down all surface areas with existing adhesion issues. We do not recommend paint stripers on drywall or lath and plaster as this could cause further issues. Once all existing paint is removed, sand down these surfaces with 220-320 grit sandpaper.
Once sanding is complete and imperfections are all addressed, we recommend using an oil-based primer to block future tannins, especially on older wall surfaces. Quality latex primers also work well but tend to not block tannins compared to oil-based products.
If you have adhesion issues when painting your wall surfaces, there are usually a couple factors that play into it.
1. The surface you applied over has an oil finish that was not properly prepped.
2. You painted over a higher sheen paint that isn’t a good surface for you latex paint to adhere to.
3. There are moisture issues from a possible roof or exterior leak.
4. The wall has grease or oil stains that were not cleaned properly.
5. The house was smoked in, and the walls were not properly cleaned and sealed.
